Ensures the safety and security of BI AH employees and non-employees while on company owned or leased property and company sponsored events, assists Manager, Security with ensuring contract security employees are fulfilling requirements of the contract with priority emphasis upon access control, video management and physical security systems to protect personnel, company proprietary information, intellectual property, and assets. Security Specialist will have responsibilities at all BI AH Missouri and Iowa locations. Incumbent will support EHSS management to ensure compliance with regulatory agencies.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Manage the access control, card-holder records, vehicle registration, visitor management, video management, and key management systems.

  • Serve as the primary electronic access control administrator.

  • Create nomenclature which aligns with Enterprise-level access control system.

  • Issue identification access cards and assign appropriate access to employees and contractors.

  • Review and evaluate requests for additional access control protection.

  • Submit access control requests to Manager, Security if additional review is needed.

  • Provides day-to-day oversight and direction for the contract security personnel.

  • Provide direction for facilities personnel and contract security after hours.

  • Works with contractor agency on performance management.

  • Ensure the contract security officers and security technicians complete their required duties, assignments, and daily activities.

  • Assist contract security management personnel with activities of training, coaching, counseling, recognition, special assignments, and performance planning.

  • Assist with audits associated with general security procedures, physical security systems, keys, and compliance.

  • Review, revise and maintain security programs and procedures for BI AH Missouri and Iowa locations.

  • Conduct investigations and complete related reports regarding security or safety issues, unusual incidents, and create and submit work-orders for the repair of defective security related equipment.

  • Provide security-related training to department and site personnel as needed or requested.

  • Participate in security-related training and maintain certifications as required.

  • Assist with training of contract security employees.

  • Work professionally with peers, supervisors, contractors, visitors, and staff from other departments under limited supervision.

  • Minimize the potential for and detect unauthorized access, theft, loss, vandalism, and workplace violence consistent with corporate direction, other BI locations and our region.

  • Make recommendations to security management and assist in driving solutions regarding video and access system installations, and security concerns.

  • Oversee and develop solutions for effective video management at the sites.

  • Serve as the subject matter expert for projects with a security component.

  • Periodically lead projects related to security enhancements.

  • Performs all company business in accordance with all regulations (EEO, FDA, etc.) and company policies and procedures; when violations are noted/observed they are to be immediately reported to management.

  • Demonstrated high ethical and professional standards with all business contacts in order to maintain BIVI’s excellent reputation in the community.

  • Assist Manager with coordination of crisis and incident management teams including response planning, meetings, drills and training.

  • Plan and execute annual shelter and evacuation drills.


  • Bachelors in Security, Business Admin. or related field from an accredited institution and a minimum of five (5) years’ experience working within a corporate security environment or similar organization required. Experience must be inclusive of at least one (1) year leading projects and a large security guard force.

  • Proficient in the use of a computer for tracking purposes, the completion of assessments/audits, reports. PowerPoint, Windows, and Excel computer knowledge are needed.

  • Excellent written, communication skills and reasoning ability.

  • Possess the ability to make logical conclusions and recommendations based on facts and observations.

  • Time management, organizational skills, investigatory and project management skills.

  • Demonstrate ability to maintain confidentiality.

  • Professional interactions and response to emergency situations.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without restriction

  • Must be willing to take a drug test and post-offer physical (if required)

  • Must be 18 years of age or older
