Boehringer Ingelheim Scientist I, Material Analytical Science in Ridgefield, Connecticut

Description

This Scientist I position is a laboratory-based (vs. managerial) position within the Biopharmaceutics and Material Sciences section. He/she carries out drug product manufacturing activities and relevant characterizations. The Scientist I also serves on multidisciplinary global project teams/sub-teams to support the development of robust formulations and manufacturing processes by applying material-sparing strategies and in-house characterization tools.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Execute pharmaceutical manufacturing and characterization studies to support drug product development activities and critical issues.

• Candidate will set up unit operation parameters for various processes and be responsible for successful completion of batches.

• Characterize drug product performances, such as flow, particle sizing, hardness and disintegration.

• Conduct maintenance and calibration of manufacturing instruments as well as lab safety and compliance of necessary documentation.

Requirements

• Bachelor Degree from an accredited institution in relevant scientific discipline or equivalent experience in a related field such as Chemical Engineering, Material Sciences, Pharmaceutical Sciences or related fields

• Demonstrates knowledge of field

• Ability to operate laboratory equipment and apparatus

• Ability to learn new technology and concepts

• Concise and accurate reporting of technical data and information

• Ability to troubleshoot

• Written and verbal communication skills

• Appropriate level of understanding of applicable regulation

Desired Skills, Experience and Abilities

• Adequate experience of working on various unit operations of pharmaceutical manufacturing processes.

• Strong analytical thinking to evaluate data and summarize meaningful conclusions.

• Ability to work with a team of individuals in a timeline driven setting.

• Expertise in coding using Python or Matlab is preferred.

Eligibility Requirement

• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without restriction.

• Must be willing to take a drug test and post-offer physical (if required).

• Must be 18 years of age or older.

Compensation Data

This position offers a base salary typically between $53,000 and $98,000.  The position may be eligible for a role specific variable or performance-based bonus and or other compensation elements.  For an overview of our benefits please click here.
