The InVivo group within the Immunology & Respiratory Diseases department is seeking a highly motivated, interactive, and team-oriented PrincipalScientist/Sr. Principal Scientist to join our Ridgefield, CT Research team. The qualified candidate will lead research efforts focusing on in vivo experiments to perform mechanism of action studies to support target validation, candidate selection and biomarker research to discover novel therapeutic concepts to treat inflammatory and/or fibrotic conditions.

Develop,coordinate and conduct in vivo experiments to deliver understanding of new therapeuticconcepts for anti-inflammatory and/or fibrotic mechanisms.
Plan,develop and conduct in vivo and ex vivo approaches to explore mechanism ofaction and support in vivo translational biology experiments.
Independentlydrive and coordinate in vivo and ex vivo studies for multiple research programsacross different stages of preclinical drug discovery and advancement of BI’s immunologypipeline.
Bemotivated to apply his/her skills to impact project needs and drive keyinnovative scientific concepts and enjoy working in a fast-paced dynamic teamenvironment with a proven ability to focus and deliver high quality data thatsupport timely decisions for projects.
Candidatemust have strong analytical and problem-solving skills with proven track recordof high research accountability and productivity both independently, withminimal supervision and within a team setting in a matrix environment.
Trainand direct research scientists with the ability to influence and collaboratewith peers, develop and coach others, oversee and guide the work of othercolleagues to achieve meaningful outcomes and create business impact.
Continueto develop scientific expertise, credentials and drug development expertise bykeeping abreast of relevant literature, by expanding scientific/technicalknowledge and skill sets, and by publishing in peer-reviewed journals andspeaking at internationally-recognized scientific conferences.
Ensurecompliance with all required training, safety, regulatory, HR and intellectualproperty activities and corporate policies.
PhDin Immunology or related discipline with at least 5 years drug discoveryexperience in pharmaceutical industry or biotech and, at least 2 years in agroup leadership role.
Sr.Principal Scientist Requirements:
PhDin Immunology or related discipline with at least 7 years drug discoveryexperience in pharmaceutical industry or biotech or equivalent, and at least 2years in a group leadership role.
Requirementsfor both levels:
Ademonstrated track record of independent research and peer-reviewedpublications in areas of immunology research. Comprehensive knowledge ofimmunology and autoimmune diseases, including myeloid and other components ofthe tissue microenvironment.
Strongunderstanding of mouse immunology, with exceptional in vivo experimentalskills. Prior hands-on experience with mouse models of immunological diseasesand developing novel in vivo models to assess the effects of novel therapeuticconcepts are a must. Expertise in Inflammatory Bowel Disease and/or animalmodels of fibrosis is preferred. Familiarity with assessing the anti-inflammatoryactivity of immunotherapeutics using humanized mouse models is a plus.
Knowledgeof biomarker discovery, development and analysis, including drug mechanismresearch and assay development/validation is highly recommended.
Strongknowledge of immunological techniques including flow cytometry, RNA, multiplexassays are essential. Experience with tissue processing and multipleximmunofluorescence is a plus.
Strong problem-solving skills and soundjudgment to accelerate strategic and project decision-making.
Teamplayer with exceptional verbal, presentation, and written communication skills,with the ability to propose, articulate, evaluate and defend scientific ideasand data.
Abilityto mentor, develop and lead a group of scientists to deliver high quality datato contribute to overall program goals. Be accountable for the effectiveperformance of the individuals.
Theability to prioritize responsibility and be comfortable with changing directionand/or priorities.
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without restriction.
Must be willing to take a drug test and post-offer physical (if required)
Must be 18 years of age or older
