Description

The Artificial Intelligence and Digital Innovation within Non-clinical Drug Safety (NDS) for Development at Boehringer Ingelheim is seeking a talented and motivated Principal software developer to join their team at the Ridgefield, CT, site. This scientist will develop drug safety/toxicology databases and applications for next generation safety evaluation, which will be daily used by NDS colleagues for portfolio-related activities.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Designing, developing, and maintaining complex software systems related to toxicology databases and applications.

• Collaborating with toxicologists, data scientists, and other stakeholders to understand their needs and translate them into functional software solutions.

• Leading the development and implementation of new software features and enhancements to improve the functionality, reliability, and performance of toxicology databases and applications.

• Developing and implementing robust data models to support the storage, retrieval, and analysis of toxicology data.

• Ensuring the integrity, security, and confidentiality of toxicology data in compliance with regulatory standards and guidelines.

• Conducting code reviews, debugging, and troubleshooting to ensure high-quality software performance.

• Staying abreast of the latest advancements in software development and toxicology to drive innovation and continuous improvement.

• Collaborating with cross-functional teams to integrate toxicology databases and applications with other systems.

• Preparing technical documentation, including system architecture, data models, code comments, and user manuals.

• Participating in the full software development life cycle, including requirement analysis, design, development, testing, deployment, and maintenance.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in quantitative discipline with 12 years of experience or Advanced scientific degree desirable, e.g. Ph.D. with experience in Computer Science, Software Development, or a related field

• Proficiency in programming languages such as Java, Python, C++, or similar.

• Experience with database management systems like SQL, Oracle, PostgreSQL, or similar.

• Knowledge of web development technologies such as JavaScript, HTML/CSS, React, AngularJS, or similar.

• Familiarity with data modeling, database design, and data structures.

• Experience with software development methodologies like Agile or Scrum.

• Knowledge of software testing and debugging techniques.

• Familiarity with containerization technologies like Docker or Kubernetes.

• Experience with cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.

• Understanding of data security and privacy regulations.

• Knowledge of toxicology, bioinformatics, or a related field.

• Familiarity with toxicological databases and applications.

• Understanding of data standards and protocols in toxicology or a related field.

Eligibility Requirements :

• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without restriction.

• Must be willing to take a drug test and post-offer physical (if required)

• Must be 18 years of age or older

Compensation Data

This position offers a base salary typically between $135,000 and $232,000.  The position may be eligible for a role specific variable or performance-based bonus and or other compensation elements.  For an overview of our benefits please click here.
