Boehringer Ingelheim is currently seeking a creative and innovative Post-Doctoral Fellow to join the Myeloid and Dendritic Cell Biology group within the Department of Cancer Immunology and Immune Modulation, to investigate cellular and molecular interactions in the tumor microenvironment and in lymphoid organs that affect anti-tumor immunity. This 2-year post (with potential for 1-2 year extension) is anticipated to provide new insights into tumor-stromal-immune crosstalk for high-impact publications. A PhD in Biosciences with a strong background in cancer immunology, cancer genetics, tumor stromal biology or angiogenesis is preferred, together with relevant cell culture and assay experience.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Asa Post-Doctoral Fellow you will benefit from a fully resourced and fullyfunded research environment with access to state-of-the-art tools,technologies and equipment.
Youwill assume full responsibility for a research project, working closelywith a senior research technician and an experienced mentor, and willleverage collaboration opportunities within BI across departments andacross sites as well as with academic collaborators.
Embeddedin the BI Research organization, you will have regular access to other BIscientists beyond your immediate lab to discuss your science and definethe best possible approach at each stage of your project.
Youwill become part of BI’s international, multi-site Postdoc community, andyou will benefit from vibrant scientific discussions with scientists andpeers locally as well as globally via using state-of-the-arttelecommunication technology and via regular Postdoc retreats.
Youwill receive sponsorship for attendance of relevant scientificconferences.
Youwill be expected to publish your scientific results in peer-reviewedjournals and present your data at international immunology conferences.
Youwill be supported by your mentor to define the optimal publicationstrategy for conference abstracts and actual manuscripts.
AlthoughPostdoc projects are basic science-focused you will gain valuable insightsin the drug discovery process via interactions with scientists inside andoutside of Boehringer Ingelheim’s Cancer Immunology and Immune Modulationdepartment
PhDin Biosciences with a strong background in tumor stromal biology,angiogenesis or cancer immunology required.
Priorresearch experience of relevant in vitro experimental techniques/approachesincluding cell culture of relevant primary cells (fibroblasts, immunecells etc.), and flow cytometry is preferred.
Experiencewith in vivo mouse models is required.
Abilityto optimize and develop assays/techniques, as well as leverage newtechnology opportunities, to address scientific questions effectively
Evidenceof scientific rigor and excellence in stromal biology/cancer immunology asdocumented by relevant peer-reviewed publications
Criticaland creative thinking, self-motivated to innovate, and organized
Excellentcommunication, networking and presentation skills, as well as excellentdata analysis and data management skills
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without restriction.
Must be willing to take a drug test and post-offer physical (if required)
Must be 18 years of age or older
