The National MSL supports multiple therapeutic areas within Field Based Medicine (FBM), will virtually cover vacant territories and reports into the CMR or Specialty MSL Director. The focus of this role is virtual scientific exchange (SE) and disease education, for which the MSL will leverage their scientific background, industry knowledge, and business acumen to act as a scientific resource to scientific experts (SCEs), while gathering insights that inform Scientific Objectives (SOs) and strategic decision making by Medicine. Within the assigned territory, MSL is responsible for establishing (when a new TA), cultivating, and maintaining relationships with SCEs. Further, the MSL functions as an extension of the medical information group to provide product and pipeline therapeutic area expertise to SCEs and HCPs, and as a scientific expert to internal stakeholders within Medicine and Commercial groups at BIPI. The MSL is a collaborative member of BIPI, who is expected to communicate seamlessly with other members of the field based organization and perform all activities in a compliant manner. The role encompasses a self-directed work environment with day to day operations and decisions.

CustomerInteractions and Scientific Exchange:
The overarching objective of the National MSLis to virtually cover vacant territories by conducting scientific exchangeand/or disease state education presentations with prioritized SCEs/HCPs.Therefore, the principal effort of the MSL will be focused on planning,preparing for, and conducting virtual based interactions and scientificexchange in support of the TA Scientific Objectives (SOs).
Specific aspects of the role include, but maynot be limited to:
Proactivelyconduct scientific exchange with SCEs to support the SOs; as guided by thelocal tactical medical engagement plan.
Establish andmaintain scientific relationships with SCEs, while understanding territoryspecific healthcare systems and clinical practices related to patient care,disease management, treatment protocols, and research interests.
Act as ascientific resource to SCEs and HCPs to reactively answer specific questions onTA or disease state topics and BI compounds through scientific exchange.
Provide diseasestate education on topics related to TA Scientific Objectives.
Act as ascientific resource to Scientific Experts at payer accounts and integrateddelivery networks when requested.
The MSL collaborates with the field basedmedicine team, appropriate Commercial personnel, and the broader organization –in a seamless and efficient manner.
Specific aspects include, but may not belimited to:
Collaborate withinthe TA MSL Team on all aspects of planning, execution, sharing of bestpractices, and insight generation related discussion in order to understand thebreadth of insights, potential impact, and to stimulate scientific exploration.
Collaboratevirtually with field based Commercial personnel, as appropriate and in acompliant manner.
Collaborate virtuallyto provide scientific expertise for key accounts, as required. Learn about newand evolving customers and the changing medical needs of such customers.
Collaboratevirtually with Commercial personnel to provide scientific support for internaland external activities where there is a defined and appropriate scientificrole for FBM.
Collaborate withAMA Directors and FBM Operations, as appropriate.
Collaborate withthe broader Medicine organization, to provide scientific support and communicatescientific insights.
Execute the territory tacticalcustomer-centric medical engagement plan in alignment with management andprovide internal and external scientific support – as required. Specificaspects of the role include, but may not be limited to:
Proactivelyexecute the territory specific medical engagement plan for scientific exchangewith prioritized SCEs, which supports the TA Scientific Objectives (SOs).
Proactively assessSCEs that are appropriate to interact with as part of the medical engagementplan.
Identify andcommunicate challenging gaps between BIPI and customer expectations, needs, andpriorities.
Proactivelymonitor and suggest adjustments to territory tactical medical engagement planto better achieve TA Scientific Objectives.
Supportidentification of scientific materials, training needs and technology platformsrequired to effectively conduct scientific exchange.
Develop scientificmaterials to support scientific exchange, as directed by MSL Team Lead.
Maintain regularcommunication with the the regional TA MSL Team, to review ongoing activitiesand insights, share best practices, and communicate learnings.
Interact virtuallywith current BI study investigators to maintain site engagement and address anyunsolicited trial related questions, and with potential study investigators todiscuss potential BI study concepts or protocols, as requested.
Facilitatelogistical communications between BIPI and HCPs regarding InvestigatorInitiated Studies (IIS), External Collaborative Research, company studycontracts, etc., as requested.
Provide additionalscientific support for Medicine and Scientific Affairs activities in alignmentwith the local work instruction, which may include but are not limited tosupport for scientific congresses and medical information.
Maintain clinical,scientific, and technical expertise in specific TA through continuous learningand knowledge of the TA related scientific literature.
Insight Generationand Reporting:
Identify, document, discuss, and communicatescientific insights as guided by the TA Scientific Objectives. Specific aspectsinclude, but may not be limited to:
Document fieldgenerated scientific insights within appropriate system(s), and communicate toappropriate internal stakeholders, as required.
Participate in thediscussion of scientific insights gathered by the TA MSL team, in order tounderstand the breadth of insights, potential impact, and to stimulatescientific exploration, as directed by management.
Supportcommunication of scientific insights across the Medical and Commercialorganizations, as directed by management.
Identify andcommunicate operational understanding of healthcare systems with field based BIteams, including changes in the healthcare landscape and trends impactingdelivery within the territory (i.e. new stakeholders impacting the delivery ofor access to care).
BSc. From an accredited institution required,and in addition fulfill one of the following education levels and experiencecriteria:
Advanced science /clinical degree (PharmD, M.D., DO, Ph.D.) from an accredited institution with oneor more (1+) years of relevant clinical or therapeutic experience (preferred),or
Masters leveldegree in health sciences from an accredited institution with three or more(3+) years of relevant clinical or therapeutic area experience, or
Combined BSc. witha MBA, or BSN with a MBA, and five or more (5+) years of relevant clinical ortherapeutic area experience, or
A PA with three ormore (3+) years of relevant clinical or therapeutic area experience.
Other medicallyqualified licensure (e.g. RPh, Respiratory Therapist) with seven or more (7+)years of relevant clinical or therapeutic area experience.
Three or more (3+) years of experience as aMSL with successful background in virtual engagements - required.
Knowledge of clinical development andexperience in medical affairs strategy - preferred.
Ability to engage with customers through avariety of digital media and platforms (remote video conference, telephone,email etc.)
Ability to integrate digital assets andstrategies into territory-level business plans
Strong virtual communication (presentation)and relationship development skills.
Able to readily interpret scientific data,understand the potential impact of data on clinical approaches and researchneeds, and communicate scientific data to broad audiences.
Ability to use field-based electronic or othercommunication tools for all aspects of job.
Requires a deep understanding of scientific,clinical, market and product information and the ability to discuss andcommunicate this information with top experts in their field.
Requires the knowledge and expertise tointerpret and share this information with internal stakeholders across multiplefunctions.
Must be legally authorized to work in theUnited States without restriction.
Must be willing to take a drug test andpost-offer physical (if required).
Must be 18 years of age or older.
