Performs process engineering tasks in support of lab and scale-up activities without supervision. Interprets lab experiments with given process parameters to design and execute non-routine processes for scale-up operations in the Kilo Lab and Pilot Plant. Assists in supervising/training technicians and junior scientists. The primary scope of responsibility is within the immediate discipline of process engineering. Performs all works in compliance with regulatory agencies and site standards, i.e. safety, environmental, cGMP etc.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Designs and executes efficient tests of systems and processes intended for pilot scale preparation of API or intermediates with minimum supervision.

  • Exhibits basic understanding of process development, scale up, equipment and operational issues including: Mass transfer controlled reaction optimization, heat balance applied to reactions for flow and batch consideration, economics, cycle time, green chemistry principles, and process safety.

  • Proven ability to implement Process Analytical Tools (PAT), including design and maintenance of loops, and sampling devices for pH, IR, Raman, FBRM, Conductivity etc. Utilize to improve understanding of processes.

  • Familiarity with process modeling/simulation software (such as Dynochem, VisiMix, Solid Works), and application to processes in batch and/or continuous mode.

  • Support/implementation of controls integration including hands on knowledge of one or more of the following common process control software packages: DeltaV, LabView, LabVision, or similar programs.

  • Communicates own work in verbal and written forms.

  • Complies with applicable regulations, performing all work in a safe manner; Maintains proper records in accordance with SOPs and policies.


  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution required with seven plus (7+) years’ experience or Master’s Degree from an accredited institution with three plus (3+) years’ experience preferably in chemical engineering.

  • Proven hands on experience, and be interested in continuing the hands on operations, in chemical process development, preferably in a GMP environment including batch and continuous operations.

  • Demonstrated successful pilot plant and chemistry laboratory experience as a process engineer in GMP manufacture of API in batch and continuous modes.

  • Practical capability to setup and operate process equipment with independence and understand scale up equipment requirements.

  • Ability in concise and accurate way of reporting of technical data and interpretation thereof.

  • Ability to write technical reports and operation procedures.

  • Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills.

  • Proven problem solving ability with practical approach.

  • Ability to act for supervisor in their absence.

  • Must be able to work in a team environment.

  • Appropriate level of understanding of cGMP and safety regulations.

  • Must be willing to take a drug test and post-offer physical (if required)

  • Must be 18 years of age or older
