Boehringer Ingelheim Senior Manager Payer and Healthcare System Partnerships - TA CRM in Ingelheim, Germany

The Position

We are looking for a very experienced, team-oriented and dynamic Payer and Healthcare System Partnership to join Boehringer Ingelheim’s corporate Therapeutic Area (TA) Cardiovascular Renal and Metabolism (CRM) Market Access Team.

In this strategic function, you will develop state-of-the-art market access and payer partnership strategies and tools and work closely together with committed colleagues to shape value propositions in the areas of BI’s innovative marketed portfolio and pipeline products that are aimed to improve patients' lives.

The therapeutic scope of the role includes the full breadth of the TA CRM i.e., the indications of T2D, CHF, CKD, Obesity and NASH. In this function, you will report to the Team Leader, Payer and Healthcare System Partnerships.

Tasks & responsibilities

  • In this role you implement and evolve the TA CRM payer and healthcare system partnership strategy and tool development as well as work with respective brand/and core teams, the TA leadership and respective OPUs to ensure inclusion within the global brand team activities and global Integrated Asset Plan (IAP).

  • You evaluate and lead innovative approaches and solutions tailored to payer and healthcare system partnership needs in order to bring value to Boehringer Ingelheim’s customers and to support the TA CRM partnership strategy.

  • Additionally, you guide the TA CRM Partnership strategy implementation in key focus markets (DE/JP), in-line with the overall corporate TA CRM partnership strategy and goals. In this context you provide leadership to the cross-country market access and cross functional sub-teams.

  • You contribute Payer and Healthcare System Partnership related market access objectives for relevant brands/portfolio aligned with the TA CMR goals and priorities, and you thus contribute to the functional and TA strategy and longer-term Payer and Healthcare System Partnership capabilities.

  • In your new function you will display leadership and work with respective core teams while making sure the development programs of pipeline products maximize the value to payers and organized customers from partnership perspective and the needs of (R)OPUs are reflected allowing for optimized access and success for the products and solutions.

  • You guide, provide oversight to less experienced market access managers based on deep payer and healthcare system partnership expertise, as well as in country, hands-on experience from partnership initiatives and payer customer experience.

Requirements

  • Significant pharma industry experience in areas of relevance for payer strategy, consulting or payer customers and health authorities and extensive experience in planning and implementing successful innovative payer and health healthcare system collaborations and in implementing innovative approaches for German and/or Japanese Payers and/or organized customers (essential)

  • Payer and healthcare system local customer orientation and a strong successful track record in payer customer interactions; knowledge of payer collaboration and partnership beyond fee-for-service contracts, coverage evidence needs of payers, business incentives, HTA organizations and organized customer groups in DE/JP primarily

  • Demonstrated experience of successful developing and executing payer collaborations and partnerships and as well as reimbursement negotiations for launching new products in key markets, with a specific focus on DE/JP.

  • Ability to foresee markets and payer customer collaborations and partnership trends, understand the need of customers/payers and to work on win-win-win solutions for patients, payers & company

  • Proven track record of delivering innovative market access payer solutions, ideally across multiple therapeutic areas

  • Profound knowledge and expertise in payer insights generation methodologies for collecting and analyzing data to gain insights into payer decision making scenarios, including financial/economic approaches within payers and healthcare systems customers

  • Solid understanding of drug and clinical and non-clinical development processes as well as economic flows, departmental and individual incentives within key US payers and OUS healthcare systems

  • Experience of conducting strategic payer collaboration and partnership work in a pharmaceutical company or within a payer organization at a global level, paired with previous country or regional OPU experience

  • Excellent communication and influencing skills both in internal and external context

  • OPU, Payer marketing, sales, KAM or previous customer facing experience is a must

  • Solutions oriented, innovative mindset and unconventional thinking, combined with a past history and ability to succeed and drive towards the art of the possible

  • Fluent English skills, additional languages are considered a plus
