The Director, Cattle Sales leads the implementation of the sales/marketing plan for the assigned species to assure maximum distribution and market penetration of Boehringer Ingelheim products within Company guidelines, policies, and directives. This position ensures equal and consistent application of established policies and procedures in the management of employees to meet or exceed sales goals.
This role is based in Duluth, GA
Duties & Responsibilities
Works with and through Regional Sales leaders to ensure sales performance meets or exceeds annual Company sales and market share objectives.
Implements a sales strategy to be executed through the Regional or Sales Management.
Exercises fiscal control on allocated operating budgets.
Utilizes appropriate data sources to develop tactical plans and to manage segment at a high level of productivity.
Actively monitors progress of work, cross-functional activities, and accountability.
Plans and executes meetings that effectively implement objectives and strategies as determined by the Company.
Is knowledgeable about the competitive landscape and players in the space.
Ensures that the segment is structured for maximum market impact and staffed with qualified, highly motivated sales personnel.
Works with Regional Sales leaders to recruit and select applicants from a pool of qualified candidates to ensure all allocated positions are filled.
Coaches, develops, motivates, inspires, and monitors team members' performance, including the development of actionable MAG plans, providing regular feedback, and conducting timely MAG Plan reviews.
Works through Regional Managers to improve the effectiveness of the sales force and recognize and develop personnel for increased responsibility.
Effectively administers salary and reward programs.
Identifies performance challenges, creates action plans, and monitors the effectiveness of these action plans.
Through the Regional managers, guides all disciplinary action in the Region, including terminations.
Aligns with the head of livestock key accounts on customer business plans and strategy to ensure ensures implementation of business plans at the territory level.
Ensures implementation of sales focus cycle elements, requires full utilization of CRM tools to maximize the benefits of closed loop marketing (CLM) and field force overall effectiveness.
Effectively monitors/measures results and through analysis, makes appropriate pro-active business decisions.
Spends appropriate amount of time developing customers, networks, and their relationships to foster Company business.
Responds to the needs of the customer in a timely and professional manner.
Contributes to the development of the BIAH business plan.
Develops positive relationships with Company internal customers and stakeholders.
Performs all Company business in accordance with all regulations (e.g., EEO, FDA, OSHA, etc.) and Company policies and procedures.
Immediately reports noted/observed violations to management.
Demonstrates high ethical and professional standards with all business contacts to maintain BIAH's excellent reputation within the community.
Communicates candidly with supervisor and direct reports and extended team.
Ensures an open communication environment for direct reports.
Applies appropriate coaching styles to each direct report to develop skills and ensure accountability.
Attends management and marketing meetings to recommend field needs and product strategies to ensure that the sales force has the sales tools needed to increase our market penetration.
Evaluates policies and sales strategies.
Provides feedback to senior management on the effectiveness and results of policies, strategies, and procedures.
Leads special projects as assigned.
Works with and through Regional or Sales Management to ensure sales performance meets or exceeds annual Company sales and market share objectives.

Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree required; Master’s degree preferred.
Minimum of ten (10) years successful animal health industry experience in sales.
Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in a sales manager (people leader) role.
Minimum of one (1) year in the assigned species preferred.
Marketing and/or Commercial Excellence experience strongly preferred.
Track record of exceeding financial and other quantitative and qualitative goals.
Strong ability to inspire, create followership, and to motivate personnel to do their best.
Strong interpersonal skills and unmatched integrity a must.
Proficiency in Excel, Word, Outlook, and database applications.
60-70% travel.
Valid Driver’s License and an acceptable driving record.
Eligibility Requirements :
