As a Senior/ Principal Scientist in the Preclinical PK/PD Modelling and Simulation team within ‘Drug Discovery Sciences’, you will be an integral part of our multidisciplinary research teams and drive model-informed decision making in and beyond the drug discovery stage. You will live our “learn-and-confirm” mentality and strongly interact with all drug metabolism and pharmacokinetic (DMPK) as well as biomarker and pharmacology disciplines within our international project teams.
The mission of our Research Department ‘Drug Discovery Sciences’ is to find high-quality first-in-class drug candidates. Our ambition is to make significant contributions to breakthrough therapeutic concepts to provide excellence in drug screening, profiling, optimization and to ensure seamless transition of drug candidates to Development. Join our Preclinical PK/PD Modelling and Simulation Team at the company’s largest Research & Development site.
Tasks & responsibilities
In your new role, you will perform high-quality PK/PD modelling and simulation analyses to support research projects by contributing to informative study designs of preclinical PK and/or PD experiments, by performing high-quality human PK and dose predictions and by contributing to strategies to better understand the PK/PD relations of our candidate drugs.
You will contribute to the achievement of modelling-related goals for Discovery Research by representing Preclinical PK/PD Modelling in international Research Project Teams.
Moreover, you will represent and coordinate Research DMPK disciplines in international Research Project Teams. This includes establishing and maintaining external collaborations and supporting licensing activities.
Additional tasks & responsibilities as Principal Scientist
As a Principal Scientist, you will lead the coordination of all Drug Discovery Sciences disciplines, which include Research DMPK, CMC, Bioanalytic, and Biomarker functions, in international Research Project Teams.
You will shape and implement PK/PD modelling strategies and approaches for specific Therapeutic Areas / indications, including the definition of modelling-related goals for Discovery Research.
Furthermore, you will coach and support the development of (junior) research scientists.
Requirements
PhD in a field related to (preclinical) PK/PD modelling with several years of relevant experience in PK/PD modelling and simulation; Industry experience is considered beneficial
A solid knowledge in biology, DMPK and/or pharmacology
Proven skills in PK, PK/PD, PBPK, and / or longitudinal disease modelling
Proficiency in (statistical) programming languages and pharmacometric tools e.g., R, MATLAB, Phoenix WinNonLin, NONMEM
Authentic, enthusiastic, cooperative, and creative personality with excellent communication skills in English
Additional requirements as Principal Scientist
PhD with long-term experience in a field related to (preclinical) PK/PD modelling, pharmacometrics, applied mathematics, systems biology, bioinformatics or similar; Industry experience is considered beneficial
In-depth understanding of (preclinical) PK/PD modelling and simulation, as well as pharmacology and DMPK-related topics
Experience in working in and leading matrix-style project teams
