Boehringer Ingelheim Post Doc - Veterinarian in Biberach, Germany

The Position

We are seeking an enthusiastic and highly motivated veterinary Postdoctoral Fellow to join the General Toxicology Group within the Nonclinical Drug Safety Department in Biberach. The Biberach campus includes a thriving community of postdocs and PhD students.

The primary responsibility of this position is to establish genetically altered Göttingen Minipigs (e.g. Humanized Göttingen Minipigs) as animal model for nonclinical safety studies. Your work will focus on scientific, practical and project specific questions dealing from requirements for the implementation of a genetically altered animal model to first in vivo studies.

This Position is limited for 2 years.

Tasks & responsibilities

  • In your new role, you will be accountable for establishing genetically altered minipigs as an animal model for nonclinical safety studies.

  • With your expertise, you will be responsible for the preparation / prerequisites of the nonrodent facility to keep genetically altered minipigs.

  • Additionally, you will apply for an animal license.

  • You will conduct first in vivo studies for establishment of the model.

  • Not least, you will strongly contribute to the scientific society, for example IHI consortium.

Requirements

  • Approbation / doctoral degree in veterinary medicine, EU veterinary license required

  • Strong background in vivo animal science (FELASA) with experience in animal license applications

  • Relevant in vivo experience, preferably non-rodent experience, especially pigs

  • Experience with genetically modified animals is a plus

  • Willingness to qualify as a project manager for genetic engineering (GenTSV § 28 Sachkunde des Projektleiters)

  • Team player with strong communication skills combined with good self-organization and flexibility

  • Very good German and English skills in speaking and writing
