Boehringer Ingelheim Post Doc - Intravitreal Formulation Development in Biberach, Germany

The Position

Within the department Pharmaceutical Development, the team Early Development at the Biberach site is looking for a Post-doc at the earliest possible date. If you are inspired by working in a highly motivated team on scientific challenges in the area of intravitreal drug delivery systems, but also interested in routine work packages in this area, please join our team. Our main interfaces within development and research are the departments Analytics, Drug Discovery Sciences, Drug Metabolism and Pharmacokinetics, Material and Analytical Sciences and Non-clinical Drug Safety. Your expertise is a valuable contribution to the development of new drugs for challenging new chemical entities and support the preparation of the development for new molecules.

This position is limited for 2 years.

Tasks & responsibilities

  • In your new role, you will independently plan, execute and evaluate experiments.

  • You also will perform DOE-based formulation screenings.

  • In addition, you will apply state-of-the-art pharmaceutical technologies for sustained-release formulations, specifically hot melt extrusion, co-extrusion or spray drying.

  • Furthermore, you will optimize, implement and scientifically characterize manufacturing processes for intravitreal drug delivery systems, for example automation or semi-automation of manual manufacturing processes.

  • Another of your responsibilities will be examination of applicability in particular viscosities, injection forces from the point of view of the application route.

  • Based on your solid expertise, you will perform literature research.

  • Additionally, you will work in multidisciplinary teams of scientific specialists from various functions.

Requirements

  • Completed studies, for example pharmacy, science or engineering and Ph.D. - preferably in the area of pharmaceutical technology

  • Profound experience in manufacturing of pharmaceutical dosage forms and in instrumental analysis, preferably DSC and XRD, is required

  • Working with various interfaces to research and development including DMPK, NDS and Analytics requires strong communication and team player skills

  • Independent working style is a prerequisite for the presentation of results in different interface teams

  • Fluent in English and German is required due to frequent international communication
